The only time a Mod locks a thread is if it's older then 90 days and someone other than the originator post to it. If it does get lock, just select the "report" button and all mods will see it

No need for long ropes, the float bollards float with the boats. Up/down makes no difference. Wear your life jacket, listen for the lock master and have at it
No issue with mussels or carp, if they make it down they will make it up
I've locked thru McAlpine many times over the years. Spent most my time on the lower side (Greenwood Ramp). Lot less traffic and more time to hook up with other boats and just float down the river
I forget but he is reasonable, had mine done a couple years ago before I sold the cruiser

There is no such thing as rebuilt injectors in the marine world. Just look at the injector it has a steel casing and someone is going to unpress (if that is a word) the casing. Remove all the parts, clean replace components, not going...
The timing marks should be aligned as seen from the rear, not the front
The shift fork and shift shaft should be removed in order to align timing marks, can be done without removal but makes it more difficult and may be in gear which would be bad

I would suggest Formula 310 or 350 depend on how much allowance the Admiral says is ok. I would not convert, if for any other reason you may never be able to sell it afterwards
Think of it this way
The steel cable inside the tube when new moves real easy. The tube inside is just barely larger the the cable running thru it. As time goes along the inner tube wears and get larger. So if the same steel cable was put inside a garden hose it would move real easy, but there...
They all work pretty much the same, and not many here on this forum have installed one. Don't know how much heat your looking for but having a 4.3 means it doesn't generate as much heat as a 8.2 so think about that when sizing
