I had a chance to shoot some white rustoleum this afternoon. I used the Rusto pro gloss white. It went down like a dream, I thinned it 10% and covered very well. By the time I got around to taking some pics the sun was going down so the they turned out a little blue, but shes white!

Bummer about the bow seats.
You got a nice looking build going there. I have a 16' SS I'm slowly working on., right now I'm rebuilding the bow seats in mine, I could do the floor but it's not bad yet, I'm planning on just running it for the summer, and I'll do the floor over the winter.
Has any one taken you up on that fish finder yet? If not, I'll take it off your hands, shoot me a p.m. and I'll get you my address.

The quality really isnt that bad. Opted to keep the existing foam and asked for velcro instead of zippers to keep the cost down, thats why they are a little lumpy looking. With some new foam they should fill out well. Its just the color... You can see the difference between the walls and the cushions, def not white.

Well guys, on a totally unrelated topic, I picked up a '57 Evinrude Lark today! Its a 35 hp motor in running condition w/o the controls. Its been converted to a fuel pump as well. As soon as I figure out how to get it out of my trunk I'll take some good pictures and post them!

I have no idea what Im going to do with it yet??? However I couldnt pass up the deal! Only $100 for a vintage '50's motor in running cond. and to top it off the seller literally lived right around the corner from me! To date its the shortest CL sale Ive had to drive to.

The motor is in sound mech. condition with the exception of a few wires and hoses that need to be replaced, however I may just disassemble the thing, hit it with some soda and repaint.

With all that said, I guess this coming winter is devoted to finding something to hang her on... Dont tell my wife lol

Re: 1972 SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

Big night tonight Gentalman!

So the gunwales and transom are painted, picked up the carpet today and the seats just came in! Guess what that means!?!? Interior is going in tonight!!! Cant wait, for the last few weeks its felt like there hasnt been any progress... Ive been in a holding pattern waiting for these seat to come, so Ive been doing all of the little stuff, which means the boat hasnt really changed much over the past 2 weeks.

I will be sure to take a lot of pick tonight, if all goes welll and the weather holds off, I plan to get everything in tonight!

BTW, what does everyone think of the old "Rude" I picked up??

Nice score, I'm planning on getting an old Lark myself soon for $50, and then the hunt for a deep 14' Starcraft will be on:)

I'm also considering running it on a flat-bottom boat possibly.

Re: 1972 SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

So I didnt make as much progress as I had hoped last Thursday. Everything went really smooth up until I started to reinstall the bow seats. I was really disappointed when I realized that the port and sb seats somehow came up 1.25" short??? I really dont know what happened? I traced both seats from the originals so Im not sure why theres a gap. I have the consols in the correct spot (between the two "L" brackets along the gunwales) and the bow triangle is correct as well... Is there a trick to this? I find it really hard to believe that I cut two seperate seats wrong.

Anyhow, here is the only pic I took of the progress.

Looks like you have the front panels mounted to high. They should be flush with the top of the side pieces that way they wont be to short, I think that will fix the problem. Pugetsound.

Puget

The front panels are just sitting there, not mounted, and they fit properly when lined up. The problem that Im having is the port and sb bow seats are not long enough. The triangle up front is fitted properly and I believe the consoles are as well. But when I place the port and sb seats in there Im short over a inch... Ive been scratching my head on this problem for a few days now and have decided to just re cut the two seats so they fit. I dont know whats off, but they are the same size as the seats that came out of the boat.

Re: 197? SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

Re: 197? SS Inside Out Restoration (New Title)

I sealed the inside of the hull last night. Things went really well, a bit cool, but well! I used a product called "Coat It" made by Goop. Its worked real well for me in the past on other projects such as the Queen Merrie and a few other small tinnies. I like this stuff a lot better than Gulvits, for one theres no question where its already gone down as its black in color. Another reason is its a lot thicker than the Gluvits as well which really helps for those vertical rivits. Most of all I like it bacause its CHEAP! Only $39.99 for a 8 pound kit.

Where do you get it from?
