Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

Interesting.

I have and do carry a weapon when camping out in the Boonies. I have and would do the same in a boat if I were boat camping or going far offshore in a small party.

That being said, My wife and I were approached by a creepy dude in the wilderness of Idaho one time. He was pushing his motorcycle along a Forest Service road and asked us if we could spare any gas. In a nutshell, I asked a series of questions and did not like his answers; something was wrong with this situation. (I was only willing to talk with this guy and get close to him 'cause my wife was out of the car and had her hand in the back seat...) I kept out of the potential line of fire and was not concerned in the least by this stressful situation. Eventually, he gets annoyed and hops on his bike, starts it up, and rides away. ?!?!?!. I have no idea what this guys intentions were, but they did not include us.

It is not a perfect world and there are bad people out there.

Personally, I prefer an autoloading carbine rifle. Less gun regulation and an easier weapon to master. My wife is handy with the Glock, that was her profession for 5 years.

jocko

BOATIST:

Offerings in stainless as far as long guns go... Some shotguns obvioulsy. Many bolt-action rifles in all-weather. As far as semi-auto, I have a Ruger Mini-14 in stainless. Stainless magazines too. These typically come with a synthetic stock and are completely all-weather. I am unaware of any M1, AR-15, AK, or SKS types in stainless.

The Mini-14 is a Politically Correct alternative to an AR-15. Not as accurate or sexy but simple and reliable. Bonus, it looks like a .22 until a magazine in it. Quality magazines for the Mini are hard to find and expensive.

jocko

Some good S.S Handguns:
SIG P-220 .45ACP(one of the most accurate & easy)
RUGER P-93 .40(good balance,action & value)
S&W .40 (well...its a Smithie!)
COLT XSE .45ACP (not my favorite brand, except for the Colt AR-15 with folding stock & 14in barrel).
S.S SHOTGUN: want a heavy, good looking & easy to shoot?...go for the Mossberg: cheap, reliable!!
S.S RIFLE: I vote for the ruger mini 14!!

Amazing absolutly amazing. Hey guys why don't you start another post in the nothing to do about boats folder. Sounds like a great place where you guys can talk about how big or how really small you guns are. Lets keep this post just to the subject. Please? :D

Hey Troll, you began this post with a good question. You can ask Admin to kill the whole thing and delete this string....Might give everyone something else to do.

Thanx, guys!

Bob, no troubles. By the way, when are y'all gonna remove the "stars & bars" from your state flag? I understand that there's a group that is offended by it.

Is anybody gettin' my drift?

trollhole,
It's been fun but I cast my vote to delete the topic. It has gotten out of hand and the fun is gone.

Copied from the faq:

Note that if your post was the start of a new topic, deleting your post will result in the removal of the entire topic (all replies after your topic will also be deleted).

Jeez, this is getting fun! Maybe we can tackle the abortion issue next??? Ha!

Sure guns can be sexy! Tear down an M1 Garand sometime and tell me it doesn't just FEEL GOOD! Shooting is a great hobby that I would expect many on this board would enjoy. Mo' fun than woodworking! Who could deny the craftsmanship of a nice bolt gun?

That being said, I am not particularly fond of handguns. Perhaps the I.Q. vs. Handgun theory holds true to an extent? ???. ...except that folks gravitate away from handguns and into rifles!

I.Q. is just fine here, thanks.

jocko

Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

so silverking... let's say one is going "moose" hunting. what type of firearm would one use to bring down a "moose". i've heard that the "moose" can be easily aggitated when shown aggression and is known to charge at a very high rate of speed (much like me in my boat) having said that, i would assume the choice of weapon is critical to a sucsessful kill. of course there is the ammo to consider as well. i'd hate to see you wound the great "moose" and have him attack whilst you are reloading. perhaps a full automatic shoulder mounted nuclear war headed tank peircing torpedo launching six shooter would be the best. please correct me if i'm wrong as you have clearly stated my ignorance of things that kill is very dangerous. personaly i'll have a drink with my neighbour and saviour my ingorance.
