Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

Great illustration SCO!

If people want to keep those rights of individuality then they must RESPECT them!
Criminals, idiots, and their hybrids do not manufacture guns. They aquire them from other gun owners, who aquired them ultimately from the manufacturer.
Many, many handguns become lost into the wrong hands quickly after they are turned out to the public by their makers. It seems to me the people who make, market, resell, trade these weapons could care less what happens to them after the money is made.
My attitude has always favored the necessity of proving responsibility before earning the right to do or posess anything. We already have so many freedoms right now we need to recognize what it will take to preserve them. You like guns? You want to keep your guns? Take care of them! Makers, Dealers, Everybody need to VOLUNTARILY take a LOT of steps to police up all these guns that are flying out the window. Regulate your trade networks, clubs, and yourselves from within so that you can be more certain than you are today that the good guys have most of the guns. Don't sell your used gun to some guy just so you can recover a couple of bucks. Before you let a gun leave your hands be sure you know to your best ability that it will not become a tool used in a crime. If you don't need it any more and you can't feel sure of it's future, destroy it or turn it in to the police. That's one less potential problem out there.
Do all you can to be responsible for your actions and their repercussions or the fearful masses will vote for people to control you.
Guns ARE a problem in the US. It's our fault. Crying fixes nothing, get to work and fix the situation the way you would like it. Start participating in America, that is your ultimate right!

Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

Like it or not there are people out there who will do you harm if they have a chance, chances may be greater in an isolated area. Some of us will carry firearms on that slim chance that we will need it to protect ourselves or others.
You will likely never know that I carry a gun.
The world will not be a safer place if I leave my gun at home because my gun doesn't short circuit my brain and cause me to do stupid things. As many have said it is a tool that will only be used if I need it.
Does this make me feel safer? Maybe, At least I know that if a thug tries to harm me or anyone around me I can offer more than harsh language for resistance.
Another way to look at it is that those who put their families at the mercy of rapists, robbers and killers without adequate means of protecting them may be the ones who are irresponsible.
Just a thought.

We carry a gun when we go offshore. Many times out 30 miles and even if can get coast guard on radio there still 2 hours away so you are pretty much on your own. Never had to take it out of it's storage location but will if I have to. I am searching for a new gun for the boat, Stainless Steel ofcourse any suggestions??

Troll, as you can see, you're not gonna get your answer here or anywhere else. It's gotta come from inside. Just be thankful that you live in a country where you are still free to make the decision. The United States of America....one nation under God....

Whoa, there I've gone and done it again. Offended another special interest group. I better just go out and finish skinnin' that gator. What am I saying? That's illegal, too. I'm overrun with 10 ft carnivorous reptiles, because somebody decided they needed protecting. I can't even let the dog out in the back yard. Can't do anything about it, though, unless they become a "nuisance". What constitutes a nuisance? A neighborhood kid getting eaten? Don't laugh. It happened recently a few miles from here. Not even a small piece left to bury in a grave.

What I meant to say is, I'll go down to the dock and feed a little fresh water to the manatees. Oops, can't do that either. Not even allowed to look at them, unless you're a member of the "Save The Manatees Club". I better quit, before I have a half-dozen special interest groups picketing in front of my house. Then I'll have to get some neighbors together and form a "homeowners association" to stop the picketing, so that I can get out of my driveway and take the dog for a run on the beach.

What? Dogs aren't allowed on the beach anymore? And I can't even get on without buying a pass? And I gotta stay 100 ft away from suspected sea turtle nests, unless I'm a member of the "Save the Turtles Club"? No matter, the beach is closed anyway, because there's sharks in the water, and I might get hurt.

Do I have "special interests"? Certainly. But, I'm not going to form a group and make laws to beat the rest of you over the head with it.

For those of you who think things are better north of the border, though; the last time I checked, the door was still open.

For whatever reason, one of our more active members has chosen not to post on this thread. So, I'll borrow Thought101's signature for a moment: "Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." Benjamin Franklin, November 11, 1755.

The decision is yours, Troll. Whichever way you go, I hope the one that you make never becomes critical. Act wisely, and use good sense. The consequences of your decision can instantly become grave and irreversible.

I'm pretty safe in the sticks and never carry
on board. heck I don't even own a gun anymore
since I lived in California and someone broke
into my house and stold them all. :(
am curious about our friends to the North where
guns are prohibited. what is the number of gun
related homicides in Toronto so far this year
and how that would compare to a US city of similar
size/population. when I was up there visiting a
few weeks ago, there were a couple in 1 day on the news????

Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

Okay I would have never posted this question if I knew people would be threatning others with guns to there ***! What has the world come too when we cannot have a sensible forum discussing boating issues without someone flying off the handle and and threatning someone. If you post something out on this forum that you shouldn't have then edit it and erase what you said. MAybe I need to go back to my mad icon  because being nice doesn't seem to work :D .

If we get mad because of a comment on a post and threaten to put a gun to someone's *** then how safe does it make me feel if that person is out boating on a lake with me and my family.

Good going guys your doing a great job of making a good case as to why we need gun control out on our lakes. Keep the threats rolling in!

It's just my opinion take it with a grain of salt!

P.S. Where's ADMIN?

You make a great point Capt. Bob. Can we no longer trust in our fellow citizen's right to bear arms because of the proliferation of idiots as described by Troll? Is our constitution obsolete, and what modifications should be made to it? Maybe we should all, all of us , work harder to retain rights that our constitution considers essential even if we don't agree with them. That way, we preserve the whole of it. There is a special interest group wanting to modify any part of the constitution you want to choose I'll bet.

yo jobass... who the **** are "they"?! let me guess, you have a bomb shelter under your house stocked with food and gas masks, along with anti-tank guns and a few surplus land mines planted around the old homestead. wow dude, world war II ended a LONG time ago. are you americans that freaked out about being invaded?

Re: bye bye Boats and Guns???????

hey sco, isn't the gun lobby a "special interest" group? i mean we are all members of a special interest group based on what "we" believe in. that is the beauty of freedom... that we have the ability to be a part of a special interest group. the challenge is to balance the needs of each group so that no one group loses all of their rights. tough job.
