    starting batteries

    i'm in the market for a new starting battery, will use existing for accessories. looking at Optima 34 ms ob. is this enough for 4.3L Gen+.recommedations welcome.

    no power to coil

    4.3L 0k009133 got dist in now now power to coil, not reading power across circuit breaker either, checked connections

    mod #0K009133 rebuilt, putting back together, every this fine till distributer. cannot get it to seat properly and timing is off. have followed merc manual #18 page 4B-10 to a "T". suggestions?

    just verifing, want to use remote starter button while working on engine, hookup to yellow wire and red battery cable. is this correct.

    oil fliter

    any suggestions? oil filter so tight can't break it loose, filter wrench is crushing it. don't want to rip it and have sharp pieces to deal with.

    too many wires

    orderd what was suppose to be replacement starter for 4.3 0K009133. no place for purple/yellow wire. can this be put on with the red/yellow wire, or rerouted somewhere else?

    engine 0k009133. free up the engine. engine had been submerged pervious owner left pulg in, don't know how long submerged. pulled intake manifold shows some rust in the intake outlets. intake gasket showed damage. removed heads gaskets looked good. #5 valves are rust in the open position...

    why is moisture forming on the outside of carbs

    50hp 73 evinrude #50373R 65 degrees atmospheric temperature moisture is forming on the outside of the carbs, like the are sweating. is this normal?

    got a clymer for xmas 73 50hp missing top[

    a roll of t.p would be better than this clymer. 73 50hp rude mod 50373 top cylinder missing intermitently, like every other beat, swapped coils, same responce, clymer shows plugs UL77V but no gap, what help is that. taking it out tomorrow with aux engine to get in, just in case.

    top plug is intermitently missing. will run on bottom plug only, will run about 4 beats on the top plug only. got a cylmer from santa, a roll of T.P. would be just as useful. manual doesn't show gap for plugs. swapped coils from top to bottom, top still misfiring.

    what is a good inexpensive product to clean this off the engine and bilge? so i don't have it all over every thing as is start to tear down.

    ok. is the purpose of the water going thur the exaust mainfold to cool the manifold? or was it just a conveniet was for they engineers to get rid of the water?

    don, just read your post to daytonadan, my port batwing had rust in #5 port. do i still put this back on to try to get the crud out. when fishing this am with my sister. its about 65 degrees.

    put exhaust manifold on all went well. now i have the oil/water crud coming out of the valve cover gaskets.

    good to be back. i'm confused. manual shows 2 application of cooling system. 1/ single hose to bottom of manifold. 2/ hose to manifold and hose to elbow/riser. i am seawater cooled. changing from bat wings to 2 piece. what's the difference in these applications, and witch should i do.
